"Rio" is super friendly, meets you at the gate and has been easy and willing to train.  I have owned him since March of his yearling year (March 2021).  He has a lot of natural talent that makes collection and smooth gates come easy for him.  He bathes, clips and is good for vaccinations, deworming and the farrier.  Overall, he has a laid back personality, likes attention and likes to be brushed.   He is current (and always has been) barefoot.  

AS A 2-YEAR-OLD  -  "Rio" was started under saddle the fall of his 2 yr old year.  He had 30 rides and then was kicked out until his 3 yr old year.   

AS A 3-YR-OLD - He made big strides in his training in 2023.  He started his show career at a few local schooling shows and attended a one-day AQHA show in August 2023.

• He is started over trail logs at the jog and lope, side passes both ways, pivots in the box and does the gate.  The parts are all there to start putting together some nice competitive Trail patterns.
• Trail Rides - he went trail riding at Est Fest in 2023 at Christensen Ranch.  He also has been ridden through our pastures in a group setting and alone.

AS A 4 YEAR OLD - Now in his 4 yr old year, we have rode around the farm, through the trees, hills and pastures.  He is ready to go in whatever direction his new owner prefers! 

• Trailed behind cow/calf pairs 7 miles west.
• June 24, 2024 AAHA Show - Rio won the Jack Benny Western Pleasure Class (7 entries) and took 2nd place in Senior Horsemanship (15 entries).  He entered in his first Trail class.
• July 14, 2024  AAHA Show - Rio won the Jack Benn Western Pleasure Class and took 6th in Senior Horsemanship (rider's fault - wrong patten).  He also competed in Trail.
• Aug 4th show AAHA Show - Rio placed in Sr. Trail and in Sr. Horsemanship in some large classes.  
• Rio attended three Foothills Playdays to take in large crowds and a very busy atmosphere (July / August)

Dam: Shesa Blazing Cookie  (Blazing Hot X Shesa Hot Cookie -  NSBA Hall of Fame in the Breeding Horse division.  She is by Zips Chocolate Chip and out of Becky's Melody, the 1990 mare earned 228 AQHA points in Western Pleasure and $24,151 in NSBA earnings.  Her offspring have earned over $129,447 in NSBA earnings, earned world championships and AQHA Superior awards in Western Pleasure, and include Its A Southern Thing, Invite Me For Cookies, Heza Hot Cookie and Shes Suddenly Hot, to name a few.) 

"Rio" went to the Est Fest All Women's Trail Ride in the Fall of 2023 at Christensen Ranch.  Lots of hills, trees, a creek to cross and several miles of riding.  There were 50+ riders and horses there that day.
